California Trailblazers, a program with a track record of successfully identifying, recruiting and training the next generation of Republican leaders, today announced its board of directors has elevated Jordan Cunningham (AD 35) to ‘Rising Star’ status, the program’s second of three tiers.

“Jordan Cunningham is an exceptional candidate who has worked hard to earn the support of public servants, educators and law enforcers. His campaign continues to exceed program requirements and has proven he is ready to win this November,” said Trailblazers CEO Jessica Patterson.

‘Rising Stars’ have raised more than $250,000 in campaign contributions, without loans or personal money, created strong media, fundraising, coalition and finance plans, identified a campaign manager and participated in Trailblazers trainings.

A small businessman, attorney and father from San Luis Obispo, Cunningham has devoted himself to protecting the interests of taxpaying families. Following a tragic family incident where Cunningham witnessed his parents successfully fight for stricter teen driving laws; he developed a passion for public policy that has shaped his career. As a former Deputy District Attorney in the San Luis Obispo County District Attorney’s Office, he prosecuted criminals and helped to keep his community safe. He is now the co-founder and owner of a firm that represents individuals, families and local businesses. Cunningham is also the former President of the Central Coast Taxpayers Association and currently serves as a local school board member, where he works to ensure the region’s children receive a quality education.

“Jordan Cunningham knows what is best for the families in his district and across California. He will fight for them once he comes to Sacramento,” stated California Trailblazers CEO, Jessica Patterson.

Throughout 2016, California Trailblazers will continue to provide ongoing support to Republican legislative candidates. Candidates who seek to enter the third tier of the Trailblazers program, Trailblazer status, must raise $250,000 in campaign contributions, identify local volunteers and precinct captains and create a substantial online presence through a dynamic website and active social media effort.
