Assembly Candidate Vince Fong Elevated to ‘Pathfinder’ Status
Candidate surpasses campaign benchmarks, enters program’s first tier
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California Trailblazers, a program with a track record of successfully identifying, recruiting and training the next generation of Republican leaders, today announced its board of directors has elevated Vince Fong (AD – 34) to ‘Pathfinder’ status. Fong, a community leader with more than a decade of public service experience, is driving a successful campaign and earning the endorsement of prominent Republican leaders, including House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, Assemblywoman Shannon Grove and Senate Republican Leader Jean Fuller.
“Vince Fong is a tremendous candidate, well-qualified to serve in the state Assembly and someone who represents their district’s values,” said Trailblazers CEO Jessica Patterson.
Candidates must complete core campaign benchmarks to earn ‘Pathfinder’ status. This includes: raising more than $100,000, without personal loans, identifying local volunteers and precinct captains, and establishing a website and social media presence.
For nearly a decade, Fong has served as the District Director to House Majority Leader and Congressman Kevin McCarthy, managing public policy issues for the region. In this capacity, Fong has worked to craft policies that encourage business expansion and enhance job opportunities for local residents.
Additionally, Fong is a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and a former member of the Kern County Republican Central Committee and Goodwill Industries of Southern Central California. Fong currently serves on the boards of the Jim Burke Education Foundation and Honor Flight Kern County, where he works to send WWII, Korean War and Vietnam Veterans to Washington, DC to see their memorials.
“Given Fong’s deep understanding of the issues facing the 34th District, he is well equipped to serve in the State Assembly and would be an exceptional asset in Sacramento, bringing conservative policies and common sense solutions to the capitol,” said Patterson.
Throughout 2016, California Trailblazers will continue to provide ongoing support to Republican legislative candidates. Candidates who seek to enter the second tier of the Trailblazers program, Rising Star status, must raise $250,000 in campaign contributions, identify local volunteers and precinct captains and create a substantial online presence through a dynamic website and active social media effort.
