Small Businessman and Longtime Community Leader Earns Campaign Distinction

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California Trailblazers, a program with a track record of successfully identifying, recruiting and training the next generation of Republican leaders, today announced its board of directors has elevated Dante Acosta (AD—38) to ‘Pathfinder’ status. As the Santa Clarita Mayor Pro Tem and District Representative for Congressman Steve Knight, Acosta is running a strong campaign and building momentum for a victory in November.

“Santa Clarita Mayor Pro Tem Dante Acosta has demonstrated his steadfast commitment to public service through his lifetime community involvement. Acosta’s invaluable experience in the private sector, paired with a deep understanding of the critical issues facing California, will make him a tremendous asset to the Republican Assembly Caucus in Sacramento,” said Trailblazers CEO Jessica Patterson.

Candidates must complete core campaign benchmarks before earning ‘Pathfinder’ status. This includes raising more than $100,000, without personal loans, identifying local volunteers and precinct captains and establishing a website and social media presence.

Raised in the 38th District by a single mother who taught her five children to work hard, Acosta learned the value of integrity, determination and perseverance. Prior to entering public service, Acosta built a successful career in finance, helping businesses and individuals achieve their financial goals and plan for a secure future. Acosta, a Gold Star Father, has devoted his life to service.

“Acosta has shown that he has the experience and training to bring a common sense voice to the state legislature and help stop the majority party from raising taxes and running businesses out of California,” said Patterson.

Throughout 2016, California Trailblazers will continue to provide ongoing support to Republican legislative candidates. Candidates who seek to enter the second tier of the Trailblazers program, Rising Star status, must raise $250,000, complete rigorous communications and campaign management trainings, as well as build the infrastructure for coalitions and surrogate programs within the campaign while also continuing to build a strong grassroots and online presence.
