SACRAMENTO, Calif. – California Trailblazers, a program with a track record of successfully identifying, training and electing the next generation of Republican legislative leaders, today announced its Board of Directors has elevated Frank Scotto (AD—66) to ‘Trailblazer’ status, the third and final level in the program’s three-tier structure. Scotto is the first Trailblazers candidate of the 2018 election cycle to achieve ‘Trailblazer’ status.
“We have continually been impressed by Frank Scotto’s campaign and are thrilled he is our first Trailblazer this year,” said Trailblazers CEO Jessica Patterson. “Mayor Scotto has called the South Bay home for the last 60 years and will be a strong and passionate voice in Sacramento for the people of the 66th Assembly District.”
‘Trailblazers’ have raised more than $400,000 in campaign contributions, without loans or personal money, created strong media, fundraising, coalition and finance plans, identified a campaign manager and participated in Trailblazers trainings.
Scotto served two terms as the Mayor of Torrance after first being elected to the City Council in 2000. His focus was on making Torrance a better place to live and work. Scotto’s tenure resulted in providing youth more opportunities, bolstering city services and planting more than 1,000 trees. Prior to his public service, Scotto built his small business, Frank Scotto Towing, from the ground up. His company became a leader in providing assistance to hundreds of motorists and was recognized as an important community partner.
“Sacramento politicians like the district’s incumbent have lost sight of what Californians are really concerned about – being able to make ends meet in an increasingly expensive state,” Patterson said. “Mayor Scotto knows better than anyone that the policies coming out of Sacramento are hurting South Bay residents and will advocate for solutions to make life more affordable in our state.”
Throughout 2018, California Trailblazers will continue to provide ongoing support to Republican legislative candidates.
